So You Think You Know Me?

Once the rebellious, angry teen, Hope has matured into an angry young woman. Gone are the carefree days when Hope could travel for hours on her bike or hang out with her boyfriend.

Her sarcastic nature has remained intact despite the constant struggle to survive, and her partying ways are in the past.

She appears to have a tough exterior; living with mostly men has made her not want to appear weak. But those she deeply trusts, such as her twin and Ryu, know how big a heart she truly has.

As a leader and parent, she can appear cold and calculating. She doesn't act on emotion but prepares for the worst-case scenario. However, her actions would show that she is prepared to bleed and die for her family. She is loyal to a fault but doesn't trust easily.

What Am I Capable Of?

Twin Connection: Works only with Marcus. They can speak silently to one another, sense each other's pain and locate one another. In extreme cases, they can Astro-project to one another for a few seconds to try and locate one another, but they cannot communicate or move when they do so.

Vine Generation:The power to create vines. A gift from Ajax Matashina, he broke a piece of his living vine from his skin and placed them in Hope. The vines are visible as they wrap around her right wrist and appear almost like a tattoo. She can use the vines as a weapon in a whip-like fashion.

Soul Manipulation: She can create shape and manipulate the soul, the incorporeal and immortal essence of a living thing; souls are usually most obviously present in sentient beings.

Resurrection: Hope has the power to bring the deceased back to life, aka she can place a soul back into their body so long as that soul has not passed on.

Soul Destruction: In wraith form, she can permanently destroy/annihilate souls and/or spiritual beings that do not have a body without affecting the body, which causes the targets to die without the possibility of Resurrection.

Soul Removal:She can remove the souls from others. Once removed, the souls may be vulnerable to damage, and restoration of the damaged soul may cause mental damage to the victim, such as madness.

Apparition: can choose to pass through the physical boundaries of the living world, can move from any point to another within seconds, passing through the veil and moving through the nether. Hope is only capable of this in Wraith Form.

Enhanced Strength: Hope has enhanced strength and reflexes due to her vampire heritage.

Sunlight Immunity: Sunlight, although deadly to vampires, does not affect Hope because of her Mother's lineage.

Cloaking/Invisibility: The power to hide objects/subjects from optical sight. She can disguise herself in the shadows when in her wraith form.

Levitation: The ability to cause oneself/subjects/objects to hover in the air. Hope is capable of this when in Wraith Form.

Spirit Physiology: The ability to take a wraith from and pass through people and objects unhindered.

What are my Weapons of Choice?

Vines: With the ability to generate vines, Hope's favoured weapons come from her wrists. She utilises them in various ways, such as binding like ropes or using a vine like a whip. They are very versatile, and she constantly finds new and creative ways to use them.

Kyūshutsu: The signature weapon of Karne Reign, a blade bathed in the blood of his opponents, consuming their life force.  Hope stole the sword from her father and has kept it hidden ever since.

What are my Limitations?

Silver: It is a toxin that can both weaken and, in large quantities, even kill.

Vine Generation: Hope is limited in the number of vines she can produce as she was only gifted so much, so she only has enough to make about four feet. It can also be broken with great force and causes Hope physical pain if damaged.

Soul Manipulation: Cannot affect soulless beings and may be ineffective if the soul of the being is stronger than her and she can manipulate an anchored or tethered soul.

Resurrection:There is a limited time frame in which she can return a soul to their body. She is only able to resurrect others and not herself. The body will be in the same condition it died in; it will not instantly heal. There is also no guarantee that the person's mind or soul won't be damaged in the process.

Soul Destruction: Hope must be in wraith form to completely destroy a soul, and she cannot destroy eternal souls.

Cloaking/Invisibility: She cannot mask scents of people of objects. Objects and people do not disappear; they are still there and can be touched; they are simply invisible.

Wraith Physiology: The longer she is in wraith form, the more her physical body degenerates, which can mean a long recovery time after using this form.

What Is My Story?

In her Youth, Hope had always considered herself the black sheep of the family until she was finally reunited with her father, Karne Reign, in her teenage years. Eventually, she realised that even though her twin had taken after her mother, she was her father's daughter.

The only stability she had in her life was in the form of Ryu Cane, even with her Mother and Brother's subsequent death and reincarnation. He had been there and given his life for her until he had regenerated.

The greatest shock came to her when her mother, grieving after losing Luca, married a man named Lyle, and she quickly became pregnant with her half-sister Destiny. It was the desire to have a relationship with her sister that she forgave her mother for kicking her and her twin out.

She lived with her boyfriend Ryu for three years, settling into a routine with him and his people, who treated her as much like a princess as Ryu did. But that all changed after the Eradication. Her mother requested that she and her brother go home, but Ryu was reluctant to let her go. They fought until Hope couldn't take it anymore and left, essentially ending her relationship with the only man she had ever loved.

Hope lives in Death Manor with her family a year and a half later. She has excelled in becoming an impromptu surgeon pulling bullets out of Immortals and putting them back together with the skills her Mother once had but seems to no longer use.

She helps in any way she can, surviving any way she can, but she can't help but miss Ryu every moment she is away from me, but stubbornly she refuses to apologise. She feels as though Ryu forced her to choose between him and her family, and although she loves him deeply, she could never turn her back on her family.

As the years went by, Hope's role in the family grew as they lost more and more family members. Hope's natural leadership took over, and she soon oversaw things within the house. That was until Ajax Matashina came knocking on her door. His coven's home had been destroyed, and he wished to merge the two families, with Hope acting as the official Head of the Family. She agreed to his terms, and soon the two families came together as one.

But Ox Corp was picking them off one by one, and they had never been in a worse position. Her lover, Matthew's blood supply line, had collapsed, and she was sure that any day now, they would be discovered.  As if that wasn't enough, her mother somehow became mortal, and her father Karne had disappeared with her, leaving Hope to defend the Death name alone.

Years went by, and the vampires managed to survive; Ajax succumbed to his age and was lost for a period. However, Enya sacrificed her heart and brought him back. It was around this period that old friends and family began to emerge. Her mother returned, and her memories are intact but fragile. Ryu returned, escaping Ox Corp's clutches and proclaimed his love for her all over again. The strained relationship between her and Matthew ended. Her long-lost sister, Destiny, returned home with a husband.

But, what should have been a time of joy was overshadowed. Ox Corp had taken Matthew, and with the original bloodline in his veins, Ox Corp needed not to get their hands on it. A rescue mission was formed, and Hope volunteered herself to go in and rescue him. The night before the planned attack, she had gotten her affairs in order when Ajax called out to her from the Black Woods. What he proposed shocked her.

Ajax Matashina wished to make her a part of his bloodline and family, adopting her by blood. She happily agreed, having bonded with the man over the years. That night she became a Matashina, Ajax offering not only his blood but also a part of himself to her. He broke off a piece of the veins that lived under her skin and placed it within her. She was now of the bloodlines, Death, Reign, and Matashina. The first of a new line and stronger than ever. Unfortunately, the blood alone was not enough to protect from the pain of losing people. The next day, they lost Erebus and a wolf named Veita, but she accomplished her mission of saving Matthew.

Then came Blair, a fiery young woman Ox Corp had mistakingly turned using Matthew's blood, making her his fledgeling. She was exactly what he needed and gave him a new lease on life until a piece of Ox Corp tech continued to do damage, and Matthew lost his hearing. Hope was there when the accident happened and managed to get Blair and Matthew before the disadvantages of her new bloodline began to appear. Being more powerful than before, the wraiths on the other side finally took notice of Hope. They dragged her to their realm and put her through trials to prove herself amongst them. Time worked differently there; a few hours to Hope had been over a week in the real world. But she returned victoriously.

However, even an army of wraiths and ancient blood couldn't have prepared her for her biggest challenge yet. She was forced to watch on live TV as Bade Price began executing family members, starting with Lita. Members of the Death and Dimitru family charged into battle to rescue those they loved, but they were too late to save Pippa, who was executed next. They were able to save Temperance Death, but as Hope feared, they had entered a trap. Miraculously, no one else died in what would be a large explosion, but that was sheer dumb luck. Hope was left putting together what pieces were left of her family and dealing with overwhelming grief. Thankfully there was a little glimmer of light in Mori, Marcus's daughter and her newborn niece, that gave her a reason to fight for the family.

But the tragedy didn't end there. Fate had other plans for Hope when she came across a badly injured man on the manor grounds. He made an entrance by crashing through her house, and Hope repaid him by saving his life and telling him to fix what he had broken. She didn't know their chance encounter would lead to a romantic tangle in the woods when Halvar revealed who he was to her. Hope took some convincing but chose to believe him when he said he was the son of a God, even if he did sound crazy. However, her doubts were gone when she witnessed the wrath of these gods first-hand when they almost killed Hal.

This would be a minor concern compared to the bombshell that Hope would discover soon after. She was pregnant. She didn't entirely accept it, to begin with, and didn't feel much in the way of maternal instincts and continued to live her life as though it wasn't happening apart from the strange pregnancy symptom of needing to take a breath every so often. Besides, she had other things to worry about, like avenging Knigh's death. He had been working with Coran, who reappeared in their lives, and someone had led them into a trap, and Knigh was taken from them. Hope managed to call in favour of a wolf she had helped and ensured that Knigh at least had peace when he passed on, but it came with the sacrifice of knowing that she would never be reunited with the man who practically raised her.

His death did bring her and Coran together as after an attack where a house was quite literally dropped on them, they formed a begrudging alliance when Hope told Coran about Ox Corp's vaccine plans. Unfortunately, Hope would rely on that alliance sooner than she had foreseen. She could never see what came next, making everything that followed her fault, or so she believed. Ox Corp attacked in the early morning, bombing the woods around the Manor and wolf den. They were surrounded, and Hope knew it. She knew there was no way to save the manor, so she focussed on saving as many of her family as possible.

Refusing to flee with the others, Hope stayed to fight alongside Hal and her brother, who found out at the worst possible time that he was about to be an uncle. What happened to Marcus next, Hope blames on herself. He wouldn't have been distracted trying to protect her if she weren't pregnant. He would have focussed on himself, and maybe then, he wouldn't have died, maybe Hal wouldn't have died.,leaving her all alone with her life burning around her. Hope doesn't really remember what happened; next, she vaguely remembers being dragged through Earth, and then everything went black.

When Hope woke, she was in Coran's warehouse with Romal keeping a close eye on her. She didn't know why he was there or that Romal had fed her his blood. Neither knew that her pregnancy would affect how she metabolised that blood and its effects on her mental state. In her demon blood-induced state, she hunted down her brother's soul, which was tethered to their aunt Kenshu. Acting out of character towards her aunt, she threatened and prepared to fight her aunt if she didn't give Hope to her brother. Kenshu reluctantly agreed, protesting her objections but refusing to harm her niece.

With Marcus's soul, Hope proceeded to continually force his soul into his body, watch him die and then do it all over again for hours, waiting for him to heal enough to stay alive. Everyone else watched in horror, but Hope was relentless until Mori, Marcus's daughter, appeared, looking terrified. Only when she appeared did Hope stop her torment of her brother to comfort Mori. Marcus was given a brief reprieve until Hope settled her niece and then spent every moment she could trying to revive her brother until the demon blood wore off and logic began to take hold once again.

It took a few days for Hope to come up with what she would do. She spent those days watching Corans men, the wolves, and her own family come together and recover while everyone except little Mori and Romal gave her a wide berth. Romal was starting to remind her of Rulakh, the way he stayed in the shadows, only leaving to smoke or get blood bags. She drank, wanting to get her strength up, but she felt like an addict, jonesing for a hit. What that hit was, she didn't know. Was it Hal's blood? Was it Romals? Was she just craving blood because she was still somehow miraculously pregnant? She didn't know, but she didn't trust herself around anyone, including Romal, but he wasn't no for an answer.

But as the itch under her skin faded, her mania quietened, and her mind refocused on saving everybody, not just Marcus, who she was still trying to resurrect. She began talking to Romal, bouncing ideas off of him. Eventually, over some whiskey, she devised a plan, and with Romal's support, she began putting it into motion. Her first course of action was to buy a building and get out of Corans warehouse. She was well aware she was overstaying their welcome. Ironically and much to her mother's disapproval, Hope purchased the apartment block her mother grew up in. However, Hope quickly hired contractors and began renovating and modernising the building.

Within a year, the first residents began to move in; those residents were Coran's men who had families. She had the humans occupy the bottom levels free of charge, excluding bills, not only because she owed Coran's men but because it helped her family hide in plain sight. The upper floors were inhabited by her family, with Hope taking the top floor for herself, Mori and her newborn son Nikolai or Nik for short. Hope did everything she could to conceal her identity and establish both Mori and Nik as humans to protect them from Ox Corp. She also kept Romal close, one of the few people she hadn't pushed away from her and her kids. In fact, he was one of the few people Hope confided in and unbeknownst to the rest of her family when Nik was born, she had made Romal promise that if anything happened to her, he would take responsibility for both Mori and Nik.

However, she has not let her parental duties distract her from trying to save her brother. With the help of her mother, Hope set up a free clinic in the heart of Saint's City. Hope gave her mother the managerial position, and Cass is the face of it, but that suits Hope. She very rarely shows her face to the public; instead, she spends what time she can in the basement, where she keeps Marcus's body—working every day to figure out how to cure him of the vaccine he was injected with and bring him back to her. At the same time, she uses the clinic to obtain blood to feed on.

It has been a long lonely five years for Hope, but she has found a strange sort of peace in her new routine. Kids, family, clinic. She wouldn't exactly call it happiness; she isn't even sure she knows what that is anymore. But, she has found some semblance of normality, and although she no longer claims to be the head of the Death family, if a family member acts recklessly and threatens to expose them to the humans, they are no longer met with just a verbal lashing. She may not have traditional maternal instincts, but she is fiercely protective of Nik and Mori and isn't afraid to kill anyone threatening them. They are all she has left to lose.

Hope Death - Reign - Matashina 258e6810

Rulakh

Species: Wraith.

Former Life: Human.

Former Stature: Caesar II of Old Rome.

Former Sex: Male.

Current Stature: Deceased for millennia.

Allegiance: Formally, Karne Marcus Death-Reign, Now Hope Death-Reign.

Weapon: Corrupted Gladius of Wraith Blood.

Description: The Gladius, a Roman sword honored of Rulakhs past life, spoiled by the corruption of his downfall, cursed by Wraith descent and destined to kill all that it touches, it is only by the House Reign that this poison is halted as to date, no other living existence has wielded such possession over wraith kind unlike those worthy of commanding the dead king. Should there be one capable of withstanding this acidic poison to curse the veins of all amongst the living plain, the result would be a temporary paralysis, resulting in dire need of rest and recovery, hours depending on the host to such a blow delivered by Rulakh, their species and defense against the banished dead.

The Birth of Hatred:

Rulakh, formally Mathias Axcius of Rome, Second Caesar by blood right to the Empire of old, Murdered in cold blood by his brother, Gaius Julius Caesar whilst asleep, soon turned to the fate of opposing Powers, both possessing Good and Evil in promising his soul incarnate retribution. He of whom upon many a death at the blade in his hand, destined for the eternal lake of fire, found a third option by imperial will, refusing to be commanded, pride, strength and honor denying his soul a life of servitude to neither the old Gods nor Hades, he would make a pact to deny both, to ensure the Gods ultimate rule, See the end-game undermined, misconstrued and manipulate Hades to fall victim to their apparent superiority while Mathias himself sought a medium.

The Denial of Damnation:

In playing both Zeus and his brethren, Hades and his minions, Mathias was struck upon by the thousand golden tongues of atrocity, Heavenly sanction of multi-tailed whips of claw, steel, bone and plague that tore earthly flesh from the Souls possession. The Sanction rendering the memory of what was to become Rulakh without knowledge of his earthly body, nor his history, nor his family of long past. Spirit wrought in separation, the soul of Mathias clung to revengeance, a desire to see blood upon hands he knew nothing of, limbs he no longer had, a will he thought to be broken yet upon Hades will, a monstrous being denied by both sides, damned to the labyrinthine world, a soulless void where few others succeeded, survived and relished as Rulakh would, the dead king becoming an emperor among Wraiths, souls with nothing but malignant desire.

The Allegiance of the Dead King:

Allegiance is never bought by price yet inspired by mutual desire and it was Karne Death-Reign, Heir to Arashi Reign, Brother to Sophia Reign and Son of Marcus Nathaniel Crane who succeeded in Coaxing Rulakh over to his leadership, offering the Dead King something he never had, an existence of worth among the dead world, power and dominion over the lesser dead through spiritual manipulation, demonic bleeding unto the new world that ultimately led to the added corruption of Arcane yet ensured the indefinite protection and servitude of the Girl, daughter and mistress of the Death Covenant and the House Reign, Hope.
